When Music Calls You to Play an Instrument
Everyone loves music. It is the language of the soul for it appeals to the heart and also gives voice to our emotions. When most of us are
contented to listen to it or maybe even sing some songs, only few have the calling to play a musical instrument.
Tapping your feet or nodding your head would never be enough to create music and show how you love it! Whether you like it or not, music has
already made its way to your heart. So why not grab an instrument?
First, make sure you get the right one for you. Know your options by choosing from string, woodwind, brass, percussion, electric and native
instruments. Research about these would be helpful too.
Consider the ones that interest you most. Also, make sure you will be physically able to play the instrument you choose. Having short fingers
might not be helpful in playing a guitar or the instrument might be too big or heavy for you.
Second, it’s always good to ask for help. Ask friends who play musical instruments to give suggestions in buying and playing instruments
too.
It would be great if a music teacher or director in your area could analyze your potential. They could give useful tips you could use in
learning to play a music instrument.
Third, start learning. You have the option to enroll in a music school if it fits your budget. Learning on your own is not a bad idea too.
There are books on how to play instruments and some resources can be found in the internet if you choose self-help. Friends can teach you too
especially if you have the same instrument.
Lastly, share your knowledge. It’s good if you can play music with a friend or colleague for a start. But it’s really an achievement if you
can play a song in a house party or local program.
This way you can share with others your love for music and your new skill too. Who knows? You might even inspire others to learn a musical
instrument too.
